After 30 Years, I Have Big News to Share.......

Greetings from the Garden

Greetings Gardener's & Friends,

After 30 wonderful years, the time has come for me to share my news:          I have sold the garden and gift shop.   This decision did not come easily. The shop has been more than just a business—it has been my passion, my home, and one of the great joys of my life.

Over the years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of growing alongside this community. I’ve watched families bloom just like the gardens we’ve nurtured together. Some of you first came in holding your children’s hands, and now those same kids are gardening themselves. It will always give me great joy and pride that my shop fostered the love of gardening for so many! The relationships we’ve built, the many, many stories we’ve shared, and the seasons we’ve spent together have meant the world to me.

Thank you for making this journey so rich and rewarding.

Now, as I prepare to turn the page to a new chapter in my life, I’m filled with excitement—not just for me, but for the future of the shop and all of you. I’m absolutely delighted to introduce the new owners, Michael and Charity Frank, who will officially take over on May 7th.

Michael and Charity bring a wonderful blend of enthusiasm, knowledge, creativity, and family values. I truly believe they are the perfect family to carry the spirit of this place forward while adding their own fresh energy and new ideas. I adore them and I know you will too.

We’d love to celebrate this new beginning with you! Please join us during Mother’s Day weekend, May 10th & 11th to meet Michael and Charity and help us mark this special moment. Sunday, we’ll be hosting our Annual Mother’s Day Muffins & Mimosas.  It’s a very special tradition—and the perfect time to toast to the amazing moms in our lives.

I will be helping in the shops these next few months to create a smooth and seamless transition. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for 30 years of loyalty, laughter, and our shared love of gardening and community. I will always treasure the memories we’ve made together.

I’ll see you in the garden,

 Melissa McCoy

Garden To-Do List:

Are you tired of pulling weeds all summer? It's time to mulch. Good mulch not only protects your plants against heat stress during the coming warm months but also limits the ability of weed seeds to take hold. Plus, it looks great! We recommend Gromulch.
AND, IT'S ON SALE THIS MONTH. Buy 3 bags, Get 1 bag FREE!

It's time to put out your Codling Moth Traps in your Apple Trees to prevent Apple worms.  Two traps for mature trees is ideal.  In stock now.

Now is the time to nourish your lawn and garden—your plants need food! We recommend using an all-purpose, pelletized fertilizer that is safe for both people and pets. Gardner & Bloome Paradise All Purpose Plant Food is perfect for all your feeding needs. It’s available in a convenient 4 lb bag or a larger 25 lb bag for those with bigger gardens!

Plant cool-season crops all month!  Not sure which is which?  Please stop by for our free guide to Cool & Warm Season Veggies.  It has a handy-dandy icon code to help you quickly navigate spring planting.

This Sunday is Mother's Day, a special day to honor our moms by showing them love and appreciation! Bring your mom to our annual Muffins & Mimosas event, where you can sip and stroll among our beautiful roses, all in full bloom. If you can’t make it, we also offer gift cards online, which come with an easy email code that can be sent to your mom any day of the year!

Deer Resistent Plant Pick - May

Blooming Hellebores

Hellebores, often referred to as Lenten Roses, are enchanting perennial plants that grace the garden with their delicate blooms from February through May. These evergreen beauties thrive in shaded areas, making them an ideal choice for woodland settings or shaded borders. One of their standout features is their impressive resistance to deer and rabbits, ensuring that their vibrant flowers remain undisturbed.

Hellebores produce stunning cut flowers that come in a breathtaking array of colors, from soft, pastel pinks to deep, rich burgundies and sunny yellows. Their adaptability to various soil types, combined with their remarkable drought tolerance, makes them a resilient and versatile choice for any garden. Whether used in floral arrangements or as a focal point, hellebores add a touch of elegance and charm to any landscape.
