30 Years of Plant Peddling at Every Bloomin Thing, Come out and Celebrate!

The beginning of our 30th season has brought so much excitement for yet another garden season in Northeastern California.  Enduring this springs' weather has no doubt felt trying!  When you just need a little "plant therapy" stop by, say "hi" and see all the fresh new plants.  It's a well known fact that being around plants makes you more relaxed & happy (healthy, too). We do love sharing stories about our plant successes (& failures) with you!

This seasons best new varieties and most sensational blooming plants are arriving weekly.  Right now we have cold hardy plants that will withstand current weather conditions like pansies, snapdragons, & alyssum along with cool-season veggies.  We also just received hundreds of fresh houseplants....some beauties.    But the best is yet to come!  On April 18th our fresh stock of trees, shrubs, & fruiting plants will arrive!   Ever eaten a Peacotum (Peach x apricot x plum)?  We are getting them and so much more.  Fruiting Mulberries, Hardy Almonds & Elderberries, the list is long.  I am super excited.

I invite you to our 30th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 13th, 2024.  We will have live music, cupcakes, champagne and store specials from 1-5:30pm.  A great big thank you to all of you, we would not be here without your love and support!  It will be beautiful that day, so I truly hope you can make it.  Make sure and share some of your gardening journey with me!  THIRTY YEARS....wow, seems like yesterday.

Hope to see you there,   Melissa

Garden To-Do List:

Tired of pulling weeds all summer? Time to mulch. Using a good mulch not only protects your plants against heat stress during the coming warm months, but limits the ability of weed seeds to take hold. A simple layer of 2-3 inches of mulch applied to your gardens will save you around 30% watering.  Plus, it looks great!  We recommend Gromulch for both planting your trees, shrubs and perennials and also the all important mulching.....

It's time to put out Pest Wizard Codling Moth Traps in your Apple Trees to prevent those pesky                     Apple worms.  Two traps for mature trees is ideal and one for 2-3 year olds.  You need them out                            before the apple tree starts blooming.  In stock now.

Feed your lawn and garden now, your plants need food just like you! We love an all-purpose, pelletized feed that can be used on everything and it's people & pet safe!  This organic plant food is balanced and has an N-P-K of 5-5-5.  Use Gardner & Bloome Paradise All Purpose Plant Food for all your feed needs.  It comes in a convenient 4 lb bag or a big 25lb bag for larger gardens.  It's perfect feeding weather right now.

Plant cool-season crops all month!  Not sure which are which?  Stop by for our free guide to Cool & Warm Season Veggies.  It has a handy-dandy icon code to help you quickly navigate spring planting.  Remember, your raised beds heat up much quicker than in ground beds.  You can get them planted in Mid March.  A simple frost blanket can protect these crops easily down to 25 degrees.  It's also a perfect time to seed your carrots, beets, greens, radishes and peas.  We also have our seed potatoes, onion sets, asparagus and horseradish in stock.  Stop by for garden advice!

Deer Resistent Plant Pick

Blooming Peonies

I fell in love with Peonies over 30 years ago and still absolutely adore them!  Luckily, gardener's are still finding them deer proof.  This includes the incredible flowers!  I cannot express how much this plant will do for your gardening ego.  Each year it produces more and more buds and blooms, unprovoked by care, soil quality or exposure.  Sun, shade, it is indifferent!  Try one, you will stand over it annually and delight in your abilities!  Right now is the best time to find the perfect one, we have over 200 in stock, all ready for planting.  Stop by and check out all the incredible new varieties and colors.
